CLEMENT H. BUNN

Clement Harrell Bunn, master sergeant USAF retired, 81, of Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010.

A graveside service of remembrance with full military honors will be held Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at 4 p.m. at New Hope Friends Cemetery.

Clement was born Nov. 10, 1929, in Lucama to the late Clement Huntley Bunn and Blanche Godwin Bunn. Sgt. Bunn enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 20, 1948. He completed basic training at Kelly AFB, Texas. In July of 1950, Clement was assigned to the 13th Communication Squadron, Japan. In September of 1950, he was assigned to the 4th Signal Battalion (Army) X Corp in Inchon, Korea, and was a member of the Air Force Liaison Team Marine Air Tactical Control Squadron in Wonson, Hungnam and Posan, Korea. In October of 1950, Clement was assigned to the 3450 Technical Training Wing at Fort Frances E. Warren AFB in Wyoming. From June 1951 to September 1951, he was platoon sergeant with Company "A" 934th Signal Battalion (Air Force), Tague, Korea. From September 1951 to January 1952 he was first sergeant 7th Communication Squadron, Tague, Korea. In January 1952, Clement was at Operation Headquarters 9th Air Force with Pope AFB, N.C., and Shaw AFB, S.C. In July of 1956, he served as sergeant with the 83rd Air Base Group Seymour Johnson AFB and first sergeant Project "Nitpicker" Classified. In September 1958, NCOIC DET 2, 8th Postal Squadron, Saudi Arabia. In September 1959, he served with the 822 Air Division 8th Air Force, Turner AFB, Georgia. From 1961 to 1967, he served as an Air Force recruiter and sector supervisor in Winston-Salem and Fayetteville. From May 1967 to July 1968, he was Special Clearance NCO 2167 Communication Squadron, RAF, Chicksands, England. He retired at Seymour Johnson AFB Aug. 1, 1968. From Aug. 1, 1968, to Dec. 31, 1987, Clement worked with Scott Motor Company. Beginning Jan. 1, 1988, until June 18, 2001, Clement was car and truck rental manager with Snipes Ford, Goldsboro.

Sgt. Bunn is survived by his wife of 58 years, Christine Hinnant Bunn; three sons, Robert Harrell Bunn and wife, Ann Elbert Bunn, of Durham, Dennis Ray Bunn of Alexandria, Va., Rodney Thomas Bunn and wife, Michelle Ashford Bunn, of Fredericksburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, Phillip, Christopher, Justin, Alexandra, Ryan, Joshua, Lillian and David; and a sister, Blanche Evangeline Davis and husband, Royce, of Goldsboro. Clement was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Christine Bunn.
