Robert "Ray" Johnson Sr., 74, died Monday at the Brian Center in Goldsboro.

Born in Johnston County, he was the son of the late William Galberth Johnson and Ruth Laneve Johnson.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Bradley Johnson; a brother, James Marvin Johnson; and a sister, Naomi Ruth Rowe.

Ray was formerly employed with Sears as a service technician.

He was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church, was an avid musician and enjoyed playing the guitar and fiddle.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home, and burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Johnson; three sons, Robert Ray Johnson Jr. and fiancée, Sue Daniels, of LaGrange, Lee Leon Johnson and wife, Mollie, of Dudley and Mark Alan Johnson and wife, Brenda, of Goldsboro; a brother, Walter Maurice Johnson of West Virginia; and a grandson, Zachary Adam Johnson.
