Rosa Bass Kornegay, 81, passed away on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at the home of her daughter.
Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 19, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Cindy Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Rosa was born in Johnston County on May 28, 1929, to the late John Bass and Eula Mae Casey Bass. She was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Rosa is survived by her sons, Tommy Kornegay and wife, Esther, of Cleveland, Ohio, James H. Kornegay Jr. of Pikeville and Jimmy Kornegay and wife, Claudia, of LaGrange; her daughter, Lynn Kearney and husband, Linwood of Dudley; her two sisters, Betty Eason of Selma and Sadie Edmundson of Goldsboro; her brother, John Bass of Asheville; nine grand-children; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, James H. Kornegay, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Ray Kornegay; her grandson, Brian Scott Kornegay; her sister, Patricia Garris; and her brother, James Bass.
The family received friends on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
