KENLY -- Irene Jones Whitehurst, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at home.
Irene was born in Greene County Oct. 25, 1923, to the late Charlie Jones and Bessie Radford Jones.
She was a member of Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church, and had worked as a sitter at O'Berry Center.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Yelverton and husband, Paul, of Kenly; her grandson, Paul Yelverton and wife, Patricia, of Kenly; her granddaughter, Lisa Driver and husband, James, of Kenly; her great-grandchildren, Michael Driver and Samantha Frame of Kenly; and her two sisters, Isabelle Proctor of Fremont and Edna Cates of Chesapeake, Va.
In addition to her parents and husband, Chester Benjamin Whitehurst, she was preceded in death by her husband, D. H. Pender.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Carolyn and Paul Yelverton at 317 Sunshine Road in Kenly.
