HELEN ROSS BENTON

KENANSVILLE -- Helen Ross Benton, 93, died Wednesday at Parish Family Care Home in Warsaw, N.C.

Helen was born in Oak City, N.C., May 28, 1917. She was the daughter of the late John Columbus Ross and Charity Council Ross.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Monroe Benton.

She was a member of Warsaw United Methodist Church for 60 years and was active in the United Methodist Women organization and VFW auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, retired Col. David R. Benton and wife, Jane, of Kenansville, Mickey Benton and wife, Karen, of Kenansville, Kathy Benton Brown and husband, retired Lt. Col. Wayne Brown of Goldsboro and Tom Benton and wife, Carol, of Pinehurst; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Warsaw United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Warsaw United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Devotional Gardens.
