CECIL OUTLAW

Died Nov. 30, 2010

KINSTON -- Cecil Outlaw died Nov. 30, 2010, in Kinston after a long illness. He was 81.

He was the son of the late Dora Blizzard Outlaw and Grover Cleveland Outlaw.

In addition to his parents, his sisters, Callie O. Grady, Gladys O. Whitfield, Thelma O. Banks, Adelle Outlaw and Rosa Lee O. Hudson, and his brothers, Marable Outlaw, Jesse Outlaw, Clifton Outlaw and Irvin Outlaw, predeceased him.

He is survived by his wife, Merle Owens Outlaw; daughter, Beverly Outlaw Jenkins and her husband, George L. Jenkins Jr.; grandchildren, Sophia Pearl Jenkins and George Lee "Jenks" Jenkins III; his sister, Dora Mae O. Herring; and many nieces, nephews and many loving and faithful friends.

Mr. Outlaw served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and worked for E.I. DuPont de Nemours Co. for 33 years in its Kinston facility.

Until his health declined, he was an active and faithful member of Neuse Baptist Church.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, an adoring grandfather, a dedicated brother and uncle and a loyal friend. He was a caring, cheerful man, who enjoyed bluegrass and gospel music, and who was devoted to attending to family and friends as their health declined.

A memorial service will be held Dec. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Neuse Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends after the service.

While the family welcomes flowers, they suggest that memorial contributions be made to Neuse Baptist Church Building Fund, 2909 W. Vernon Ave., Kinston, N.C., 28504.

Edwards Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
