ROSCOE "PIG" WASHINGTON JR.

Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, the master walked through his garden and saw a flower that had begun to wilt and fade. He called his name and said "Peace be still."
Roscoe "Pig" Washington Jr., was born March 19, 1938, in Wayne County, N.C. He was born to Roscoe and Eunice Washington Sr.
He attended Wayne County public schools. He worked at Georgia Pacific for 32 years as a forklift operator.
He continued his journey as a faithful servant under the leadership of pastor Bessent, pastor Williams, and then pastor Joe Dixon as an active member of St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange, N.C., where he served faithfully as a deacon and greeter.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Batts, and son, Ricky Batts.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 37 years, Eyvonne Marie Washington; children, Doris Overton, Karen Yelverton, Eunice Washington, Roscoe Washington III, Haywood Yelverton (Altovice), Ricky Mable, Sherri Moore, Wayne Washington (Joyce) and Catherine Windbush; a sister, Barbara Jean Washington; two brothers, William W. Washington and Edward Washington; 34 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation for Mr. Washington will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc. Celebration of life services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange.
After which Mr. Washington, along with his cherished family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park for committal rites. The angels are now rejoicing, having received another Christian solider that has finished his course and is now sitting around God's heavenly throne.
