Stephen E. Minchew, 85, of Memorial Church Road, Kenly, died Oct. 29, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Minshew-Coley Funeral Home with a time of visitation to following. The Rev. Dwayne Evans officiated. Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. at Whaley-Barnes Cemetery.
He was a very special dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and a loving and giving heart. He had a passion for gardening and fishing, and was a legend at Sasser's Mill Pond.
Surviving are a son, Larry Stevie Minchew and Gail; daughter, Debbie "Twigg" Wilkins and husband, Larry; brothers, the Rev. Earl Minchew, Hillery Van Minchew and Othal Minchew; sisters, Peggy Keech and Linda Sue Toler and husband, H.C.; grandchildren, Larry Stevie Minchew Jr. and Amy, Phillip Wayne Minchew, and Tonya, Kristie Johnson and husband, Jamie, Darren Jones and wife, Heather, Ashley Sunner, and Shannon Finch; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Tiffany, Ashley, Chelcy, Ethan, Kylie, Destiny, Travis, Peyton, Baker Lee, Camden; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Walls Minchew.
