Jean Daughtry Rose, 79, passed away Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late David C. and Mattie Futrell Daughtry, and the widow of Jack Rose.

Mrs. Rose was owner and operator of Roses Florist until her retirement, and was a member of First Christian Church.

A service to celebrate Jean's life will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Fred Clarke officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Surviving are her daughter, Jo Ann Grant of Goldsboro; sons, Jackie Rose and Jeff Rose and wife, Lou, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Melissa Roberts and husband, Kevin, Amanda Lucas and husband, Jamie, Jay, Jackson, William, Josh, Nicholas and Robert and wife, Nicole Rose; and great-grandchildren, McKayla Smith, Sawyer Grant, Addison Jean Lucas, Jackson Robert Rose and Chloe Jean Rose.

Mrs. Rose was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by a brother, D. C. Daughtry.

Flowers are welcomed or the family requests memorials be made to First Christian Church, 1609 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times they will be at her residence, 1611 E. Mulberry St., Goldsboro.
