Joseph "Turkey" Lawrence, 88, Wallace, died Thursday at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington.
Funeral services will be at Rockfish AME Church, Teachey, today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Arthur Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Bloodworth Lawrence; one daughter survives.
A visitation of family and friends was Saturday from 6 until 7 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home.
