LEAMON B. WOODARD

Leamon Barney Woodard, 73, passed away Sunday evening at home following a three-year courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.

Leamon was born in Wayne County to the late William and Estelle Wilkins Woodard.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Princeton.

Leamon will be remembered as a loving husband and father to his family.

Leamon attended Rosewood School, and later joined the United States Army in 1956, where he served for two years.

Leamon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean Whitaker Woodard; his four sons, Clint and friend, Melanie Herring, of Goldsboro, Clay and wife, Lisa, of Pikeville, Tony and wife, Annette, of Rosewood and Troy Woodard of Rosewood; nine grandchildren, Kari Motluck, Kyle Woodard, Samantha Lawrence, Abby and Crystal Woodard, Megan and Kiersta Woodard and Lauren and Nicholas French; his brothers, Layton Woodard (Frances) of Atlanta, Ga., Elwood Woodard (Naomi) of Roanoke Rapids and Harold Lee Woodard of Princeton; and his sisters, Essie Smith and Ann Giddings of Goldsboro and Linda Shaver (Dick) of Apex.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jesse Parnell; brother-in-law, Luby Giddings; brother, Melvin Woodard; and special niece, Brenda Hinnant.

Funeral services will be held at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., with pastor Gene Worley and pastor Worth Worley officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Cemetery in Princeton.

Flowers are welcome or memorials in his memory may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund in Princeton.
