Mary Cleve Woodard Williams, 67, of the Rosewood community, died early Saturday morning, Oct. 16, 2010, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Following her wishes, there will be a memorial service of remembrance and celebration of life at Pine Forest United Methodist Church at a later date. Family and friends are invited to come to share stories of their interactions with Mary, and their memories of a woman long-loved. Her family honors her wish for cremation and scattering of her ashes at a later date at a special place.

She was the daughter of the late H. David Woodard and Virginia Ginn Woodard. Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband of 50 years and childhood sweetheart, Herbert E. Williams Sr.; sons, Herbert E. Williams Jr. and Dana S. Williams of the home. Also surviving are her siblings, Linda L. Woodard of Chapel Hill and David Woodard and wife, Carolyn, of Granite Falls, as well as their children, Justin Woodard of Chapel Hill and Jordan Woodard of New York City. She is also survived by two special sisters, Jessica Gainey Thompson and Carol Jordan Mitchell of Community Drive in Goldsboro.

Blessed to have grown up as a member of a large and loving extended family, she is survived by one aunt, Grace G. Jones of Smithfield, and one uncle, Robert J. Mitchell of Willoughby, Ohio, and a multitude of loving cousins. Many life-long friends from Rosewood and the Pine Forrest communities will miss her many acts of loving-kindness and quick wit.

Mary was a gifted musician, using her talents at Pine Forest Methodist Church as pianist and organist for many years. She was a former employee of Wayne Pharmacy, where her patience, intelligence, kind heart and beautiful smile allowed her to bring encouragement to patients and co-workers alike.
