WILLARD 'RED' DOUGLAS SPELL

Died Sept. 18, 2010

Willard "Red" Douglas Spell, 79, passed away Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Sampson County, he was the son of the late Clennie and Maggie Tew Spell.

Mr. Spell was a member of Love Memorial Baptist Church.

He was retired from the County of Wayne, and worked a number of years at Boyer Motors.

He served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Spell will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Richard Toler officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ann Naylor Spell; daughter, Lynn S. Aycock and husband, Wayne, of Wilmington; son, Stephen Douglas Spell and wife, Amy, of West Jefferson; and grandchildren, Jordan Douglas Spell and Paige Spell.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Spell was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene and Craven Spell.

Flowers are welcome, though memorials may be made to Love Memorial Baptist Church, 298 Woodland Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and at other times at their residence.
