EDWARD 'ED' ARETEOUS WILLIAMS

Jan. 13, 1933-Aug. 7, 2010

PIKEVILLE -- Edward "Ed" Areteous Williams, 77, passed away Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Williams was born Jan. 13, 1933, to the late Oscar Williams Sr. and Bertha Cole Williams.

He served two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Williams was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he served as deacon, and was the owner of Williams Paint Store, which was located on East Walnut Street in downtown Goldsboro.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marjorie Blow Williams; three daughters, Linda Wilkins and husband, Jerry, of Goldsboro, Joanie Hill and husband, L.C., of Goldsboro and Sharon Weiser and husband, Jeff, of Waynesborough, Va.; two brothers, Bill Williams and Billy Hines; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Edwards and husband, Clint.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a grandson, Christopher Hill.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at 3 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Tom Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends this evening (Monday) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
