RUTH H. MOZINGO

Edna Ruth Hopewell Mozingo, 86, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family to go be with her Heavenly Father, family members and friends.

A service to remember Ruth's life will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ira Williford officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Ruth was born in Wayne County May 20, 1924, to the late George Cleveland Hopewell and Rena Best Hopewell.

Before her retirement, Ruth worked at Barry of Goldsboro, and helped her husband work on the farm.

After her retirement, she was a housewife and homemaker.

She had a great love for yard work. She loved to cook and spend time with her family and friends. She was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law.

The latest love of her life was her great-grandchild, Railee.

She was a member of Clingman Street Church of God for 50 years, and a charter member of United in Christ Church. Ruth and her late husband held church services in their home while the church was being constructed. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary at the church and got great pleasure in working at the church bazaars. She loved her Lord ,and loved to read her Bible and listen to gospel singing.

Ruth is survived by her son, David Kim Mozingo of Goldsboro; her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ira Talmage "Thigie" Thigpen of Goldsboro; her granddaughter, Ginger Thigpen Winter and husband, P.J. Winter, of Goldsboro; her great-granddaughter, Railee Ann Winter of Goldsboro; her stepgreat-grandson, Karsun; and several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. She is also survived by her extended family, Lonnie and Mildred Rast.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Melvin Mozingo, in November 2009; her brothers, Jim Hopewell, Bruce Hopewell and Wyatt Hopewell; and her sisters, Nora Holloman, Margarite Hopewell, Tiny Hopewell and Ethel Corbett.
