MARY JANE ATKINSON HOWELL

Mary Jane Atkinson Howell, 82, known by her family and friends as "Mary Jane," of 402 South William St., Apt. H, Goldsboro, departed this life peacefully on Friday, July 2, 2010 at her home.

Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, July 5, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, 700 W. Ash St., with Bishop Alton Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Mill Cemetery, 2925 Central Heights Road. A public viewing will be held on Sunday , July 4 2010, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St.

Mary Jane was born in Johnston County on Dec. 12, 1927 to the late James Atkinson and Zeller Cox Atkinson.

She attended the Johnston County public Schools.

Mary met and married Oliver L. Howell. To this union two children were born, Blanche and Linda.

Her husband, Oliver Howell and her daughter, Blanche Atkinson preceded her in death.

Mary Jane was a devoted wife, a loving mother, mother-in-law, sister and friend.

Mrs. Howell leaves to cherish her loving memories her daughter, Linda Taylor and husband, James E. Taylor, of Goldsboro; one granddaughter, Tonya Howell of the home; one grandson, Omar Taylor of Florence, S.C.; a special nephew, Kenneth Atkinson of Goldsboro; one aunt, Ada Herron of Goldsboro; one uncle, Henry Cox of Philadelphia, Pa.; a host of other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

At other times, the family will receive family members and friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Taylor, 414 Cardinal Drive, Goldsboro.
