JAMES H. CLAY

Oct. 9, 1956-July 2, 2010

James Henry Clay, the son of Henry Seymour Clay and the late Callie Thompson Clay, was born Oct. 9, 1956. On Friday, July 2, 2010, God in His infinite wisdom called him home from Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was educated in Wayne County Public Schools. He was preceded in death by his mother, Callie Thompson Clay.

He leaves a legacy of love to his former wife, Deborah Taylor of Goldsboro. From that union were born two daughters, Yolanda C. Holloway (Richard) of Goldsboro and Callisha M. Clay of Goldsboro; father, Henry S. Clay (Joyce) of Goldsboro; daughters, Gabriel Bryant of Goldsboro and Destiny Clay of Goldsboro; son, William R. Robinson of Goldsboro; stepsons, Martrey V. Martin (Jennifer) and James H. Martin, both of Goldsboro; sister, Anneesse C. Sasser of Goldsboro; brother, Timothy Clay of Goldsboro; brother, Leon Cole (Renita) of Goldsboro; nephew, Chris Kenan and Nicholas Cole, both of Goldsboro; special nephew, Timothy L. Douglas of Goldsboro; niece, Courtney Cole of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, Hyzeen Z. Holloway, Zyreke A. Holloway, Shelqwane Q. Morrison, Shonquell Q. Morrison and Anthony J. Boyette Jr. His one and only surviving aunt, Bessie M. Thompson of Goldsboro; and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.

A visitation for Mr. Clay will take place on Monday, July 5, 2010, from 3 until 6 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral home and Cremations, Inc. Services remembering the life and legacy of Mr. Clay will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Rev. Michael Smith will offer words of encouragement, after which, Mr. Clay and his cherished family will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park for interment rites.

Mr. Clay's earthen vessel is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc., where his adored family is receiving services of compassion and class.
