WILLIAM L. EDWARDS

Died June 1, 2010

PRINCETON -- William Leo Edwards Sr., 89, of Princeton, son of the late Joseph S. and Lois Rowe Edwards, went home to be with the Lord June 1, 2010.

He was a farmer, former owner of Selma IGA and a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mae Thorne Edwards, and a daughter, Carol.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Russell Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are his son, William Leo Edwards Jr. and wife, Pam, of Four Oaks; daughters, Mary Lou Willoughby and husband, Melvin, and Judy Dorsey and fiancé, Keith, Lancaster all of Princeton; grandchildren, Melvin Jr., Amy, Todd and Charity Willoughby, Michael Dorsey, Denise and Wayne Worley, Beth and Jon Fulcher; a great-grandson, Darren, and his faithful four-legged companion "Buddy." He is also survived by brothers, Melvin and Bob of Princeton, Russell of Rockingham, J.S. of Kansas City, Mo., and Henry of LaGrange, and sisters, Lillian "Sister" Mitchell of Princeton, Rose Peele of Micro, Betty Pharr of Charlotte and Jean Garner of Snow Hill.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
