STEPHEN EDISON EDWARDS

HILHAM, Tenn. -- Stephen Edison Edwards, 59, passed on into glory, Thursday at Livingston, Tenn., Hospital, soon after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He died peacefully but not in pain. During his last days, he shared both tears and laughter with many of his loved ones.

A graveside service was held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Edwards Family Cemetery, Ensor Hollow Road, Buffalo Valley, Tenn.

He was born in Wayne County to the late John Wesley "J.W." and Eda Johnston Edwards. He grew up on Hwy. 13 South near the Wayne County Fairgrounds. He graduated from Southern Wayne High School.

Steve is survived by his wife, Vangie, of the Philippines; his brothers, Joe and wife, Carol, of Cookeville, Tenn., and Calvin G. Edwards and wife, Marlene, of Rosewood; his very special nephews, Shayne and Manuel Edwards of Tennessee and David "Spike" Edwards of Kenansville and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: John Oliver Edwards of Kenansville; Major Edwards of Greenville and Clark Brady of Council.
