Shirley Williams Hobbs, 66, of Eureka, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A service of remembrance will be held Monday at noon at Goldsboro-Raleigh District assembly, 214 W. Hooks River Road. Presiding Elder Franklin Rush will officiate. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park South, on Highway 117 South, Dudley.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her beloved husband, D.H. Hobbs Jr.; two daughters, Diedre Hobbs of Kernersville, Sonya (Sterling) Blackwell of Greensboro; five sisters, Rose (June) Mitchell of Wilson, Evonne Swinson of Tarboro, Annie (Freeman) Artis of Stantonsburg, Bettie (Willie) Thomas of Wilson, Peggy Finch of Stantonsburg; three grandchildren, Jasmine Blackwell, Kennedy Jeffers, Hailey Blackwell; special nieces and nephews, Joanne Wigfall and family, Janice Hobbs, Bobbie Rhodes and family, Christopher Mitchell and family, Maurice Mitchell and family, Sharon Mitchell and family, Rickietta Elliott and family, and Denzel Condery; ten aunts; three uncles; more adoring nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; a long-time friend, Richard Worrells of Eureka.

A viewing will be held today from 2 until 5 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. at Salisbury AME Zion Church, Faro. All other times, they will meet at the residence, where they will assemble one hour prior to the service Monday.
