MOUNT OLIVE -- Hilda Frances Cox Kornegay, 82, passed from this earthly life on Sunday. She was at Mount Olive Care & Rehabilitation Center surrounded lovingly by her family, when death came.

Services to celebrate her life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tyndall Funeral Home with Dr. Dennis Atwood and the Rev. Chris Turner officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service, and at other times, friends and family will be received at the home of Glenn and Frances Brogden, 409 West James St., Mount Olive.

Mrs. Kornegay, a retired homemaker, was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive. A longtime Mount Olive area resident, she had been residing at Glen Care of Mount Olive until recent weeks when she relocated to Mount Olive Care & Rehababilitation Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Louis Kornegay; her parents, Walter and Phoebe Grantham Cox; and a sister, Katherine C. McClenny.

Her survivors include three children and their spouses, Frances K. and Glenn Brogden of Mount Olive, Edward L. and Margaret Kornegay of Goldsboro, and Nancy K. and Mike Burton of Greenville, S.C.; a brother, Bobby Cox and wife, Pat, of Goldsboro; three sisters, Edna J. Price of Mount Olive, Martha C. Phipps of Goldsboro, and Ina Ruth Overman of Ahoskie; four grandchildren, Scott M. Burton and wife, Karen, and Ashley B. King and husband, Trevor, all of Greenville, S.C., and David G. Brogden and John M. Brogden, both of Mount Olive; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary Burton, Karis King, and Trace King, all of Greenville.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hervy Kornegay Sr., Barbara Malpass, Elizabeth Knowles, and the nursing staffs of both Glen-Care and Mount Olive Care & Rehababilitation Center. They thank you for the loving care and kindneses expressed to them and to Mrs. Kornegay. May God bless each of you.
