PIKEVILLE -- Ronald David Smith Sr., 84, passed away Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will be in Snow Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born in Pitt County to the late Major C. Smith and Lizzie Dudley Smith.

He lived in the Faro community and worked for more than 20 years as manager of Faro Milling Co. Mr. Smith had also worked at Boyer Tractor and Equipment Co.

He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. Smith enjoyed working as a vendor for many years at the Wilson Flea Market.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lillian Sellars Smith; his sons, Ronald Smith Jr. of Swansboro and Kenneth D. Smith and wife, Dottie, of Richland, Wash.; his daughter, Sylvia Smith Madison and husband, John, of Wendell; his grandchildren, David Smith-Tilley and wife, Megan; his great-grandchildren, Southern and Chace; his brothers, M. Darrell Smith of Fayetteville, Webster C. Smith of New Bern and Robert E. Smith of Nevada; his sisters, Jean Murphy of Seaford, Va., and Faye Hart of Farmville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rue Belle Murphy, Jimmie Lamb and Evonne Daugherty.
