GARLAND RAY MOZINGO

Aug. 27, 1937 - April 6, 2010

Garland "Ray" Mozingo, 72, died early Tuesday morning.

Born in Wayne County, August 27, 1937, he was the son of the late Ray Fields Mozingo and Malinda Best Mozingo. He retired as a vice president and manager from Wachovia Bank in 1997, after 30 years of service. He was a graduate of East Carolina University where he earned his degree and then became a teacher before becoming a banker for Wachovia Bank. He had great love for history, friends and family and was an avid collector of coins, antiques and memorabilia from times gone by.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Libby and Stu Putman of Savannah, Ga.; a son, Carlton Mozingo of Santa Monica, Calif.; grandchildren, Wes and Sara Putman and Kai Mozingo Villalba; a dear friend and companion, Linda Satterfield of Wilmington; special aunts, Mabel Mozingo of Goldsboro and Evelyn Lane of Mount Olive; a sister-in-law, Diane Mozingo of Goldsboro; a special niece and nephew, Malinda Kroskie and Jeff Mozingo, as well as his cousins, lifelong friends and classmates whom he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends at Falling Creek Baptist Church in the fellowship hall beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10. Services will be held at 4 p.m. in the church and burial immediately following in the church cemetery. The Rev. Billy Webb will preside over services.
