WOODROW THIGPEN

KINSTON -- Woodrow Thigpen, 83, of Kinston, passed away on Sunday.

Born in Duplin County on Nov. 13, 1926, he was the son of the late Alex and Jessie Outlaw Thigpen. He was a member of Kinston Baptist Temple, retired from Caswell Center and served his country during WWII.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Doris Kelly Thigpen of the home; daughter, Linda Thigpen Parker and husband, Dennis, of LaGrange; sons, Royce Thigpen and wife, Becky, of Kinston and Mike Thigpen and wife, Pam, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Tim Parker, Katie Thigpen, Royce Thigpen Jr., Millie Thigpen, Dustin Thigpen, and Haley Thigpen; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, John Thigpen, Alfred Thigpen, Franklin Thigpen, Alex Thigpen Jr. and Morris Thigpen.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Henry Seymour officiating. Graveside services will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Arrangements are being handled by Howard-Carter Funeral Home.
