E. ROY JONES

Edward Roy Jones, 65, of Dudley, passed away Thursday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Dorman officiating. Committal services with full military honors will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at his mother's home, 1637 Old Mount Olive Hwy., Dudley.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Margret and Dan Jones. He retired after 27 years from General Electric as an electronics engineer and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and retired from the US Army National Guard after having served in the Persian Gulf War during Desert Storm. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 11, the 40/8, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Amvets and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Danner Jones; two sons, Dan Jones and wife, Carla, of Goldsboro, Stacey Jones and wife, Kim, of Pikeville; two sisters, Kaye Edwards and Linda Baughman, both of Dudley; four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Miley, Bailey and Carter Jones.
