OSIE M. WILLIAMS

Mother Osie Maydelle Williams departed this life Tuesday at Britthaven of Goldsboro.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Western Assembly Disciples of Christ Headquar-ters building in Newton Grove, with elder Deron M. McLamb officiating. Burial will be in Williams/Hodges Cemetery in Four Oaks.
She was born Oct. 14, 1911, to the late Jimmy D. and Martha Williams.
She was raised in Johnston County, Bentonville Township, and completed the 8th grade.
She was married to the late deacon Claude Williams and to that union came six children. She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Roberta Merritt of Goldsboro (loyal caregiver), Melvin Williams of Goldsboro, formerly of Stratford, Conn., Joseph Williams (Shirley) of Smithfield and Robert Collin Williams (Louise) of Selma; daughter-in-law, Mildred Jean Williams of Smithfield; a sister, Margaret Oates of Goldsboro; a sister-in-law, Layuria Williams of Four Oaks; 17 grandchildren (two deceased); 27 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by nine siblings, Flonnie Lynn, Lola Adams, Lillie Jones, Roosevelt Williams, Arnelius Williams, Lonnie Williams, Nester Williams, Justine Williams and James Williams, and two children, Jimmy Williams and Edna Gray Williams.
A wake/visitation will be held Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Bentonville Disciples of Christ Church, 8566 Devil Racetrack Road in Four Oaks. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Roberta Merritt, 503 E. 11th St. in Goldsboro.
