Lan Blackwell, 63, of Kinston, formerly of Charlotte, passed away Monday night at home, after an extended illness.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Oakdale Cemetery, North Bonner Street in Washington.
A native of Goldsboro, he was the son of the late Lee and Rosalind Blackwell.
Lan received his Bachelor of Arts degree from East Carolina University and his MBA from Central Michigan University.
He retired from BASF Inc. in Charlotte in 2006.
He is survived by his sister, Rose Paul Blackwell of Kinston; and cousins Lewis Paul of Atlanta, Ga., Dan Paul Jr. of Pantego, Dorothy Carter and husband, Fred, of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Willa Miller and husband, Kim, of Lafayette, La.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lenoir County SPCA, P.O. Box 1481, Kinston, N.C., 28503.
