Robert Jones Jr. departed this life on Jan. 13, 2010, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, 700 W. Ash St. in Goldsboro.
Robert was born on Nov. 9, 1927, to Lon and Sadie Jones. He attended Wayne County Schools. He was a senior deacon at St. Mark Church of Christ, where he served under three pastors.
He was a retiree of Cherry Hospital.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy V. Jones.
He is survived by one son, Leroy (Gertrude) Evans; six daughters, Jerelene Williams, Judy DeMerritt, Sadie (Ernest) Watson, Margetta Jones, Benita (Terry) Jones and Chakita (Rodney) Perry; three sisters, Elnora (Albert) Chestnutt, Veola Brown and Argie Pryor; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
