ELIZABETH HICKS

Elizabeth "Lib" Anne Parker Hicks died Jan. 15, 2010, at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro, following two years of declining health.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Wilson, followed by burial at the town cemetery in Pikeville. Pallbearers will be Scott Hicks, Jeffrey Hicks, Andrew Sewell, Richard Parker, Randall Parker and Dick Fulford.

A native of Wayne County and longtime resident of Wilson, she was the daughter of the late Carnie Dail Parker and Joseph Richard Parker, and the widow of the late George A. Hicks.

She is survived by one son, Alan Scott Hicks and his wife, Cindy, of Roxboro. Additional survivors include grandchildren Scott G. Hicks and his wife, Colleen, and Jeffrey M. Hicks and his wife, Katherine, all of Asheville, and Laura H. Sewell and her husband, Andrew, of Wilmington; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

Mrs. Hicks was a graduate of King's Business College and worked at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base during WWII. She was also employed by Carolina Power and Light Company in Goldsboro, and thereafter worked for many years in the family business, Hicks Chrysler-Plymouth, which began in Fremont in 1957 and relocated to Wilson in 1965. She maintained a lifelong interest in horticulture and was a member of garden clubs in both Fremont and Wilson.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Robert Parker of Roanoke Rapids and Richard Parker of Atlantic Beach; and by a sister, Mary Frances Bell of Mount Olive.

The family will receive friends at the church at 10 a.m. prior to the service.

Arrangements are by Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, where flowers may also be sent. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
