Vennie Colene Thompson, 82, 637 Grantham School Road, died Monday at Mount Olive Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 6 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ray Smeltzer officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Ms. Thompson was born in Wayne County Dec. 24, 1926, to the late Joseph Preston Thompson and Viola Chestnut Thompson.
She was retired from Princeton Manufacturing Co.
Ms. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Sandra Herring of Goldsboro; a sister, Betty T. Grantham of Mount Olive; two granddaughters, April Harrell and husband, Brian, of Mount Olive and Carrie Lynn Herring of Goldsboro; and her great-granddaughter, Jayda Harrell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jimmy Herring; her brother, Chester Thompson; and her sister, Helen Stevens.
The family will receive friends following the funeral service at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
