RAYMOND C. WILLIAMS

Died Nov. 24, 2009

DUDLEY -- Raymond Carlton Williams, 83, died Tuesday.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Homestead Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Williams, a native of Pennsville, N.J., was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Seabees in the United States Navy.

He returned to Pennsville, where he was employed by the EI DuPont Co. for 36 years prior to his retirement in 1983.

He made his home in Winterville in 1983, and was active in both Greenville American Legion Post 39 and Mount Olive Post 103 and the VFW. He was a member of Brogden Grange No. 967, Eastern Carolina Vintage Farm Equipment Club and a member and elder emeritus of Dudley Christian Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Patsy Ann Williams Proud and husband, Gary, of New Castle, Del., and Barbara Jean Williams Beaman and husband, Rusty, of Dudley; grandsons, David Vanderslice Jr. and wife, Deanna, of Newark, Del., and Daniel Vanderslice and wife, Kim, of New Castle, Del.; great-grandchildren, Micheala, Connor and Lindsey Vanderslice; and close friend, Rose Kinzel.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Olive Williams; his wife, Margie Nobles Williams; two brothers; and two sisters.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
