CANDOR -- Mrs. Diana O'Berry Steed, 69 of South Main Street, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 8, 2009, at Candor Town Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Dexter.

Mrs. Steed was born Jan. 15, 1940, in Wayne County to Thomas O'Berry and Elea-nor Turrentine O'Berry. She was a member of Candor United Methodist Church and was employed as a librarian with the Montgomery County Public Library. She was a member of the Candor Bridge Club and was a lover of horses and art. She was an avid reader and was preceded in death by her parents and by a loving stepmother, Eliza-beth Maness O'Berry.

Mrs. Steed is survived by her husband, Joe D. Steed Jr of Candor; by a son, Joseph David Steed III and wife, Deidra Murphy Steed, of Candor; by sisters, Anne O'Berry of Melbourne, Fla., Brenda O. Dexter and Martha O. Tracy, both of Dudley; and by grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Steed, Caroline Naomi Steed, Joe David Steed IV and Richard Thomas Steed, all of Candor.

The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor and will see friends at other times at the residence.
