SNOW HILL -- Clara Bell Tart Smith, 82, passed away Saturday at Britthaven of Snow Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, with the Rev. Larry Turlington officiating. Interment will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Harnett County, born May 19, 1927, the daughter of L.V. Tart and Lillie Bell Shirley Tart. She was the widow of J.P. Smith.

She had attended Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and had retired from Caswell Center in Kinston.

Her surviving family includes a stepson, Durwood Ray Smith of Goldsboro; children, James Richard Smith of Snow Hill, Shirley Smith Jernigan of Kinston, Kenneth Wayne Smith and wife, Debbie, of Snow Hill, Phil Smith and wife, Angie ,of Snow Hill, Gary Smith of Snow Hill and Rex Smith and wife, Kim, of Bailey; a sister, Audrey Brian and husband, Tom, of Snow Hill; brothers, S.J. Tart and wife, Molly, of Goldsboro and David Walker Tart and wife, Beverly, of Georgia; sister-in-law, Ruth Tart of Goldsboro; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 104 Francis St. in Snow Hill.

Arrangements are by Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service.
