RICHARD KIRBY JR.

Richard "Dickie" Edgar Kirby Jr., 65, 1903 Salem Church Road, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center with his family by his side.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, 1407 Antioch Road in Pikeville, with the Rev. Greg Stancil and the Rev. Sherman Dilley officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at W.E. Musgrave Cemetery, 1719 Antioch Road in Pikeville.

Mr. Kirby was a native of Antioch community and was the son of the late Hilda Virginia Rackley and Richard Edgar Kirby Sr.

Mr. Kirby was a real estate broker, had served in the National Guard Reserve and was a member of the Goldsboro Elks Lodge No. 139 B.P.O.E.

He was an avid quail hunter and enjoyed field trials.

He was a graduate of the 1962 class of Charles B. Aycock High School and also Crumpler Business School.

Surviving are his children, Scarlet Kirby Medlin and husband, Chad, and Richie Kirby both of Goldsboro; brother, Heywood Dwight Kirby of Goldsboro; sisters, Peggy Kirby Holland of Goldsboro and Norma Stames and husband, Nick, of Springfield, Va.; grandchildren, Chandler and Cam both of Goldsboro; and a special lifetime friend, Juanita Wade of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Kirby Lancaster, and brother, Tommy Hart Kirby.

At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Medlin, 111 Highwoods Drive in Goldsboro.
