WILLIAM ESTEL GODWIN

William Estel Godwin, 71, of 389 Luby Smith Road Princeton, died Thursday evening at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton with the Revs. Thomas McLendon and Ramon Mizell officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 18, 1938, and was the son of the late Foy Leon and Cora Hollingsworth Godwin, and also preceded in death by a brother, Marion Godwin.

Mr. Godwin served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Church of God for 47 years, and a former member of the Princeton Rescue Squad for five years. He was a member of Rosewood Church of God, where he served in many capacities such as usher and choir member.

He is survived by his wife, Myde Woodard Godwin; sons, Curtis E. Godwin and wife, Becky, of Elm City, Randy W. Godwin and wife, Lisa, of Pikeville; brother, John R. Godwin of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Margaret Millard of Princeton, Virginia Stonestreet of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Godwin and wife, Samantha, Lyndsey Parrish and husband, David, Tiffany Godwin and Alexis Godwin.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 this afternoon at Casey Funeral Home.
