ROBERT EVANS III

Died July 17, 2009

FAYETTEVILLE -- Robert Bailey Evans III of Fayetteville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 17, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center from a pulmonary complication.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Presbyterian Church, 111 Highland Ave., Fayetteville, with Dr. J. Ernest Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Evans Family Cemetery.

Bailey is survived by his ever-loving wife, Colleen; forever grateful sons, Bailey and Zan, as well as his younger, adoring siblings, Hunter, Richard and Mary.

He attended Christ School, where he developed some of the most meaningful relationships of his life, which he held dear the entire duration.

After high school, Bailey was educated in Greensboro at Guilford College, where he met his beautiful wife and yet another group of friends who meant the world to him.

His professional endeavors included founding and operating BBZ Marketing Group, a company out of Fayette-ville, while consulting for G&M sales of Goldsboro. Bailey enjoyed the time he spent with his colleagues and believed it to be an honor to work with such remarkable individuals. Throughout his life, Big B influenced others with his charismatic personality, charming composure and insatiable thirst for knowledge.

Golf and fishing were just a few of his hobbies, but in the conquest to master the riddle of golf and the cast of the fly, he found peace with his great buddies and the humble expression of nature. His real passion, however, was his family -- his beloved wife, Colleen, and his boys -- who were his inspiration.

Bailey will never be forgotten and the spirit of his character will rest eternally in the minds and hearts of the ones he loved.

A visitation is planned for today, July 19, 2009, at the residence of the family from 5 until 8 p.m.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Duke University Medical Center, Paul W. Noble, M.D., Professor of Medicine, Chief, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care, 2079 MSRB II 106 Research Drive, DUMC, Box 103000, Durham, NC 27710.

Services are entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
