JESSIE C. PEEDIN

Sept. 1, 1930 - July 19, 2009

Jessie Clarence Peedin, 78, went peacefully to be with His Lord on Saturday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Jessie was born in Johnston County on Sept. 1, 1930, to the late Henry Clarence Peedin and Addie Mae Stafford Peedin. He was a long-time member of Pikes Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church. Jessie grew up in Wayne County where his family farmed and raised chickens. After his parents passed away Jessie continued to live there with his brother, Herman Peedin, who catered to all his wants and needs. Following the death of Herman, Jessie moved to a new home, Newcomb Family Care, where he was loved and cared for by Patsy Newcomb and Amy Matthews. Jessie was known for his quick wit and for having the last word, but he never forgot the principles his mother and father taught him, always Praise the Lord. He will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Pikes Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Merle Davis and the Rev. Bill Cotton officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Jessie is survived by his sisters, Margaret P. Hollowell and husband, Jimmy, of Goldsboro and Frances P. McFatter and husband, James, of Pikeville; his brother, Raymond E. Peedin of Raleigh; his brother-in-law, Clyde Tilton of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and brother, Jessie was preceded in death by another brother, Fletcher Peedin and his sisters and brother-in-law, Mildred Louise Peedin, Mary Ruth Peedin Tilton and Hazel Peedin Bizzell and husband, Sandy.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Pikes Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2494 Pikeville-Princeton Road, Pikeville, NC 27863.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at the home of Jimmy and Margaret Hollowell, 969 Hwy. 581 N., Goldsboro.
