EYSSEL H. FRANKLIN

March 23, 1922-June 15, 2009

Eyssel Hines Franklin, 87, formerly of Mount Olive, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center following a two-year illness.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, with the Rev. A. Z. "Tony" Gurganus officiating.

She worked for the State of North Carolina in the Department of Corrections for many years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.

She is survived by two daughters, Eyssel Hines Franklin and Leigh Anne Franklin both of Goldsboro, and two grandsons, Franklin Grey Gurganus and Brian Hill both of Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by a son, William H. "Bill" Franklin Jr.; her former husband, William H. "Ben" Franklin Sr.; her parents, Grainger Hines and Sarah Catherine King Hines; five brothers, Frank Hines, Theron Hines, Gene Hines, Reginald Hines and Burnice Hines; and two sisters, Elizabeth Hines Loftin and Doris Lemoine Hines Bagby.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC, 27534.

Arrangements are with Tyndall Funeral Home.
