Katie Fields Best, 90, formerly of Goldsboro, died Tuesday at National Health Care in Greenville, S.C.

The family will greet friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Scott Thrailkill officiating.

Katie was born in Mount Olive March 12, 1919, to the late Floyd A. Fields and Lillie Mae Underhill Fields.

After retiring from General Electric with more than 35 years of service, she volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital for several years.

Katie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Goldsboro and became affiliated with Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Greenville, S.C.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Best Kerley, and son-in-law, Ron Kerley, of Greenville, S.C.; grandsons Michael Kerley and wife, Lynn, and Chad Kerley and wife, Emily; and great-grandchildren, Chase, Hannah, Taylor and Jack of Charlotte.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Fields of Mount Olive, Nathaniel Fields of Kinston and Russell Fields of Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Creek Baptist Church Forever Young Senior Adults, 1801 Woodruff Road, Greenville, S.C.
