WILLIAM B. HUGHES

William B. "Bill" Hughes, 69, 480 U.S. 13 South, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Stuart, Va., he was the son of the late James P. and Ocie Morrison Hughes. Mr. Hughes retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant, was retired from U.S. Air Express as an aircraft mechanic and was co-owner of Shirley's Sew-N-Save. He attended The Way International, was a member of AARP and the Air Force Sergeants Association.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Lincoln Zeilman officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley D. Coburn Hughes; a daughter, Wanda G. Hughes of Cary; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Cary B. and Kim Hughes of Dudley, James L. Hughes of Goldsboro; two sisters, Arlene Shelor of Ridgeway, Va., Dot Terry of Alexander, Va.; and two grandsons, Alex and Jordan Hughes of Dudley.

Family members will greet friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home, 480 U.S. 13 South.
