MAGNOLIA - Roy L. Phillips, 77, 157 Glaspie Road, died Monday, at Brian Center in Durham.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the First Missionary Baptist Church, Kenansville, with the Rev. Patricia Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Phillips Cemetery, Kenansville.
He was the son of the late Abb and Minnie Hussey Phillips, a retired Duplin County bus garage mechanic and retired Duplin County Fire Department volunteer fireman.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey, of Magnolia; his children, Thelma C. Manley of Raleigh, DeQuilla P. Battle of Rocky Mount, Roy Lee Phillips Jr. and Denise Pearsall of Raleigh; one brother, James Owen Phillips of Warsaw; and eight grandchildren.
Viewing will be today at Garris Funeral Home Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
