FREMONT - Esther Jones Ballance, 76, Benton Pond Road, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine St. Interment will follow at Ballance Family Cemetery in Fremont.
Ms. Ballance was born to the late Genus Jones and Eliza Overman Jones. She was a member of Mount Nelson Baptist Church in Eureka.
She is survived by five daughters, Debbie and Terry Ballance of Pikeville, Connie Ballance of Eureka, Rose Wilson and her husband, Gary, of Dunn, and Marie Ballance of Raleigh; two sons, Raymond Ballance and his wife, Brenda, and Tony Ballance, all of Fremont; six sisters, Lee Holloman, Betty Hamilton and Nellie Rae, all of Princeton, Sally Thebarge of Norfolk, Va., Magdalene Hurtman and Geraldine Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; four brothers, Buck, Earl, Roy and Buddy Jones, all of Princeton; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Odell Ballance and three sons, Larry Wayne, Jeffery Craig and Johnny Ballance.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine Street and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Brenda Ballance, 693 Benton Pond Road in Fremont.
