MARYLAND - Funeral services for James Rudolph Joyner, 77, were held Sept. 28, 2006 at Turner Memorial AME Church in Hyattsville, Md. Interment was held on Sept. 29 at Barbara Memorial Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC.
He was the son of the late Walter Joyner and Bertha Chapman Gardner Joyner of Wayne County.
Mr. Joyner was survived by his wife, Willie Mae Joyner of the home; sons, LeRoy McDowell of Elm City and Ronald Joyner of Rockville, Md.; daughter, Michele J. Curtis of Md.; three sisters, Evangelist Jeruth Atkinson of Goldsboro, Etta J. Becton of LaGrange and Nora J. Sims of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren, one great-grandchld; 45 nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Cary Gardner of Greenville, Theadore Gardner of New Haven, Conn.., Walter Troy Lee Joyner and Geraldine J. Horner of Goldsboro, Rosa "Peaches" J. Hudson of Wayne County, Richard Oscar Harper Joyner of Newport News, Va.
