Ida Gunter, 80, died on Tuesday at Britthaven Nursing Center. She was a native of Wilson County. Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by her parents, Ida Powell and Walter Ward and her husband, Handy Gunter, Sr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Barnes Chapel Church in the Rosewood Community with the Rev. George T. Cromwell and the Rev. Handy Gunter, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosewood Church Cemetery.
Viewing will be held Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 South George St.
She is survived by four sons; Edward Brinson of Jacksonville, FL., the Rev. Handy Gunter, Jr. of Clinton, Joseph and Wilbert Gunter of Raleigh; one daughter, Lovely Ann Fleming of Garner; one brother, Charles Ellis of Charlotte; four sisters, Catherine Hinnant, Walletta Crawford, and Ruby Rowe, all of Goldsboro, Annie Clarke of Wendell; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
