CELESTE A. DEANS

Died Oct. 28, 2006

After a period of declining health, Celeste Adams Deans, 89, died peacefully on Oct. 28, 2006, at her home located on Tommy's Road, Goldsboro. A Wayne County native, Mrs. Deans was the daughter of the late James S. and Blanche B. Adams. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of 42 years, Franklin E. Deans, who died in November 2001. Two cousins, Jerry Lou Jones of Advance, N.C.,and Eleanor P. Rawls of Asheville and a host of friends, survive her.

A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Deans at her church, St. Paul United Methodist Church in Goldsboro, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, with the Rev. JoAnn Turner and the Rev. Thurman Horney officiating. Seymour Funeral Home, Goldsboro, is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Deans was a graduate of Goldsboro High School. She was employed by several Goldsboro firms. Her last employment was with O'Berry and Lewis Inc., a Goldsboro insurance agency from which she retired in 1977. Mrs. Deans was recognized by those who knew her as a gracious, generous and loving human being. To her friends, she never failed to display her love and loyalty. During her last illness, she was faithfully, and with tender care, served by Lisa Wells, Mary Smith, Sylvia Wood, Elnora DeWitt, Katie Brogden, Maxine Martin, David Howell and Home Hospice Care of Goldsboro.
