Died Oct. 26, 2006

MOREHEAD CITY - Sidney Alexander Gordon died Thursday.

A private service will be held.

He is survived by his wife Virginia "Ginny" Pittman Gordon; daughters, Robin Pittman Gordon of Morehead City, Jennifer Sidney Gordon Morrison and husband, Leon M. Morrison, of Morehead City, Michele Scalone Hyde and husband, Capt. James Hyde, of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; his grandchildren, Jenny and Galloway; and great-granddaughter Callie Gray. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law; Louise P. Lee of Robersonville and Natalie Gordon of Syracuse; and brother-in-law Bob Pittman and wife, Claire, of Greenville.

Oheb Shalom Temple and congregation, Goldsboro Lions Club and Wayne County Red Cross were important in his life while in Goldsboro. He especially enjoyed the Paste Board Committee meetings of the Lions Club as well as his service on the state level of the Lions Club. After selling Carolina Shoe Rebuilders, he joined Prudential Insurance (Raleigh branch). The love of the salt air and boating brought Sid and Ginny to Carteret County in 1981.

He was predeceased by his parents Alexander Jake Gordon and Anna Solomon Gordon, his brother, Abe Gordon, and sister, Lillian Gorodess.

Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. of Morehead City.
