GLADYS GARRIS

LAGRANGE -- Gladys Tyndall Garris, 79, of 749 Piney Grove Rd., died Wednesday, at Pitt Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Garris was born in Wayne County to the late Hubert and Viola Westbrook Tyndall. Gladys was a devoted homemaker with a great love for her family.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Dorman officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Garris is survived by her husband of 62 years, J. Melvin Garris; three children, James Melvin Garris Jr. and wife, Sandra of LaGrange, Gerald Edward Garris of La Grange and Dianne Garris Cianfarra of La Grange; two brothers, Dr. H.D. Tyndall of Goldsboro and Carl Haywood Tyndall of Roseboro; sister, Doris Lancaster of Pikeville; five grandchildren, Nick Cianfarra and wife, Angie, Denise Brown, Don Garris, Brian Garris and Kevin Whitley and wife, Cindy; eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday following the service and at other times they will be at the home. Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
