Bonny Lee Rutledge Bishop, 66, 402 Aspen Circle, died Monday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Ayden Cemetery in Ayden.

Born in Hagarstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Archibald H. Rutledge Jr. and Katherine Berkeley Sauls Rutledge and sister to the late M. Sheridan Rutledge.

A member of First Baptist Church, she was retired from the Wayne County Public Schools after 26 years with 18 years at Carver Heights School. She was a member and former president of the Goldsboro Exchangettes, a member of the Red Cross disaster response team, a member of the North Carolina Association of Educators and a member of the North Carolina Association of Educational Office Personnel.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, W. Warren Bishop; two sons, Charles McLawhorn Whitehurst Jr. of Scotland Neck and Lt. Col. William W. Bishop Jr. and wife, Mary Beth Bishop, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Emily R. Whitehurst Clayton and her fiancée, Charlie Miller, of Raleigh, Ellen Bishop Guffey and husband, Allen Guffey, of Florence, S.C., and Mary Bishop Rich and husband, Jim Rich, of Raleigh; seven grandchildren, Jonathan and Taylor Jackson, Allison Clayton, Robert Guffey and special friend, Lindsay Dell'Armo, Jordan Guffey, Jennifer Guffey Morris and husband, Earl Morris, and William W. "Tripp" Bishop III; and a very special friend, Pam Boyer of Goldsboro.

Family members will greet friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
