C. Banks McNairy III, 78, 114 Pineridge Dr., died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles Morrison and the Rev. Thurman Horney officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

A native of Wayne County, Mr. McNairy was born June 11, 1928, to the late Charles Banks McNairy Jr. and Rowena Adams McNairy. He attended school in Goldsboro and graduated from Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Ga. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was an avid supporter of the school.

He retired as vice-president of T.A. Loving Co. where he was employed for 45 years. He was a life member of Goldsboro Elk's Lodge #139 B. P. O. E. and was the first president of Walnut Creek Country Club where he especially enjoyed the fellowship of his friends on the golf course.

Mr. McNairy was a member of the Golden "K" Kiwanis club and one of the original members of the Rod and Gun Club. He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and the J. Paul Edwards Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Hobbs McNairy; sons and daughters-in-law; Mac and Janet McNairy of Greensboro, Jack and Carolyn McMcNairy of Tennessee, Sydney and Althea McNairy of Winterville and William and Libby McNairy of Chapel Hill; brother, John A. McNairy of Orlando, Fla.; his step-sons, Michael Gabriel Jr. of Charlotte and Jerry and Penny Gabriel of Clayton; and six granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Theresa Gooding McNairy and Mildred Stevens McNairy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Golden K Kiwanis and the J. Paul Edwards Sunday School Class.

Flowers are welcomed or memorials be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Dr., Goldsboro, 27534, or Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, 27530.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
