Died Sept. 16, 2006
MONMOUTH, N.J. -- William "Bill" Rhoe Sr., 71, died Saturday.
A celebration of his life was held Sept. 16 at Phillips Metropolitan CME Church of Newark, N.J.
He attended Goldsboro city schools and later served in the Army. He was a master plumber for the city of New York before retiring. He also received his master plumber license for the state of New Jersey in 1985 and was self-employed for three years.
Mr. Rhoe was a native of Goldsboro and the first-born to the late Joseph Rhoe and Mamie Gore Rhoe.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Rhoe; nine children; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three siblings, Joseph Rhoe of Goldsboro, John King of Southern Africa and Jane Rhoe-Jones of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Lori Rhoe-Foster; brother, James Rhoe; and sister, Mary Rhoe Cobb.
Visitation was held Sept. 15 at the church.
